Day 1: Depart USA
Depart today on an overnight jet flight to Vienna..
Day 2: Vienna
Upon arrival, you'll be met and transferred to your hotel. Tonight
enjoy a welcome dinner at a typical "Heurigan" restaurant.
Dinner.
Day 3: Vienna
Our morning sightseeing tour features views of the Prater amusement
park, the UN building, St. Stephen's Cathedral and other vivid
reminders of the city's imperial history. The balance of a day is
free for independent activities. Perhaps you can see where Sigmund
Freud lived or indulge in some Sacher Torte at a friendly sidewalk
cafe. Breakfast.
Day 4: Vienna / Melk /
Salzburg
After breakfast, we leave Vienna behind and travel along the Danube
River to Salzburg. En route we stop to visit the Melk Abbey is one
of the finest religious sites in Austria. Black-robed monks still
stroll amidst marble sculptures and frescoed walls. In the
afternoon, we arrive in Salzburg, home to the "Sound of Music" and
birthplace of Mozart. Breakfast, Dinner.
Day 5: Salzburg
Salzburg and music go together like coffee and 'Schlagobers.' You
will see the connection on your sightseeing tour that includes
Mozart's birthplace, the Cathedral, Getreidegasse pedestrian
shopping street, Hohensalzburg medieval fortress and the Mirabell
palace. Breakfast.
Day 6: Salzburg /
Oberammergau
This morning, we travel to Germany and Oberammergau. Upon arrival,
take some time to enjoy this quaint mountain village on your own.
After lunch, take your seat for the world famous Passion Play.
During the Thirty Year War, the village of Oberammergau was spared
the Black Plague and for this reason, the villagers vowed that every
ten years they would give a play to honor the life of Christ. The
Play has a running time of @ 5 hours. You will be served dinner
during 3-hour interval in a restaurant in Oberammergau.
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 7: Oberammergau /
Neuschwanstein / Munich
After breakfast, explore densely forested mountains of southwest
Bavaria. First take a short stop to view Weiskirche, otherwise known
as 'The Church in the Meadow.' Later on we continue to visit famous
castle in Bavaria - Neuschwanstein. The castle was built by the 'Mad
King' Ludwig and is known for its extraordinary architectural feats.
Later on we continue on to Munich. Upon arrival enjoy a sightseeing
tour including the views of the classical architecture of King's
Square, the former artist quarter Schwabing, Arch of Victory, Hall
of General, Angel of Peace, Deutsche museum, the world-famous
Hofbrauhaus, the National Theatre and the Royal Palace. Included is
the visit to the Church of our Lady. Breakfast
Day 8: Munich /
Regensburg / Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber
After breakfast, we travel to Regensburg, one of Germany's best
preserved medieval cities. During our walking tour you will visit
the Dom St. Peter, view the old Town Hall, the Roman Gates at Porta
Pretoria and the University of Regensburg, where Pope Benedict XVI
taught theology before being named Archbishop, and later, Cardinal
of Munich and Freising. Enjoy some time at leisure before heading to
Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber. Breakfast, Dinner.
Day 9: Rothenburg Ob Der
Tauber / Heidelberg
Morning visit of Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber. With its splendid
location and charming medieval atmosphere, hardly any other town is
able to captivate its visitors in quite the same way as Rothenburg.
A walk through this town is an unforgettable encounter with bygone
centuries. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of this medieval city that
features the UNESCO Imperial Cathedral. Following our tour, we
proceed to Heidelberg. Your afternoon sightseeing of Heidelberg will
include a visit to the Castle ruins. You'll also get a chance to see
the famous stone bridge and one of the oldest Universities in the
world. Following your tour, experience the local cuisine at a
typical brewery. Breakfast, Dinner.
Day 10: Heidelberg /
Frankfurt / USA
After breakfast, we transfer you to Frankfurt airport for your
flight back home. Breakfast.
