Fatima & Lourdes   8 Day Itinerary

 

Day 1:  Depart USA
Start your journey aboard an overnight flight. Meals will be served.

Day 2: Lisbon / Fatima
The group will arrive in Lisbon and take a panoramic sightseeing tour of Portugal’s capital city. Continue to the Alfama, the oldest quarter of Lisbon, to visit the Church of St. Anthony and celebrate Mass, and the nearby St. Anthony Museum and the Cathedral.  Proceed to the district of Belem to see the Belem Tower, the Monument to the Discoveries and visit the Jeronimos Church.  Depart for Fatima. Orientation of Fatima including the Capelinha (also known as the “Chapel of the Apparitions”) as well as the Basilica, which contains the tombs of two of the children of Fatima, Jacinta and Francisco. An OPTIONAL video presentation on the history of Fatima will be offered at the Consolata Fathers Center. Dinner and overnight in Fatima. (D)

Day 3: Fatima
In the morning the group will celebrate Mass in the Capelinha. Then visit the small village of Aljustrel, home of Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta, the three children who witnessed the Apparitions of the Blessed Mother in 1917.  Also visit Valinhos, where Our Lady appeared in August of that year, as well as the parish church where the children were baptized and where family members were buried in the cemetery.  Afternoon free to explore Fatima on your own, shop for religious articles and other souvenirs, or spend time in private devotion. Enjoy dinner and overnight in Fatima. (B,D)

Day 4: Fatima
Enjoy a day at leisure Fatima or if you wish take part in an OPTIONAL side  trip will be made available to make a visit and tour the famous monasteries of Batalha, Alcobaca as well as spend some time at leisure in Nazare, a quaint fishing village with lunch on your own. Upon returning to Fatima for the evening, participate in the Candlelight Procession and Evening Rosary (in season). Dinner and overnight in Fatima. (B,D)

 

Day 5: Fatima / Lourdes
After breakfast the group will depart to Lisbon for the flight to Paris where we will change planes for the flight to Lourdes. View a video presentation of the story of Lourdes. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes. Also, trip participants may wish to take part in the evening Candlelight Procession (in season). (B,D)

Day 6: Lourdes

After breakfast, participate in a walking tour of Lourdes, the town so closely linked to the life of St. Bernadette. Visit the “Boly Mill” (site of the birthplace of St. Bernadette), and the “Cachot”, another home of the family. In fact, this is where she lived at the time of the Apparitions. Also visit the parish church of her family (she was baptized here as well). Dinner and overnight in Lourdes. (B,D)

 

Day 7: Lourdes
After breakfast, participate in “The Footsteps of St. Bernadette” with visit of the small village of Bartres where St. Bernadette spent a part of her childhood. Return for a visit to the Shrine area  and tour the three basilicas. Take the opportunity to participate in the “miraculous Baths”. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes. (B,D)

Day 8: Lourdes / USA
After breakfast transfer to Lourdes Airport for flight to the USA.  Arrive home same day. (B)
