8 Day Itinerary |
ITINERARY
DAY 1: DEPART U.S.A.
We depart tonight on our overnight
flight to Munich. Meals will be served on board flight.
DAY 2: MUNICH / REGENSBURG
We arrive at Munich Airport where we
will be met by tour escort and transferred to Regensburg where Pope
Benedict XVI was a professor at the University. Short stop in
Regensburg-Pentling to visit the house of the Ratzinger family.
Dinner and overnight in Regensburg. (D)
DAY 3: REGENSBURG / MARKTL / ALTöTTING
Today, enjoy a tour of the city.
View the buildings of the Roman period as well as the old medieval
city center with its beautiful churches of all periods, and
especially the world famous gothic style Cathedral. Also visit the
University of Regensburg where the Pope was a professor. Continue to
Marktl, the Pope’s birthplace, and see the local museum and his
baptismal font. En route stop in Aschau au am Inn where Pope
Benedict XVI lived, attended primary school and received his first
Holy Communion. Dinner and overnight in Altötting. (B,D)

DAY 4: ALTöTTING
/ TRAUNSTEIN / PRIEN
After breakfast we visit the Shrine
of Our Lady, Pilgrim’s Chapel, Cathedral and St. Ann’s Basilica.
Afterwards we depart Altötting for Traunstein, where the Pope
attended school, and visit to the Monastery and St. Oswald Church
where he celebrated his first Mass. Continue to Lake Chiemsee and
visit the castle Herrenchiemsee and the Monastery Frauenchiemsee.
Dinner and overnight in Prien am Chiemsee. (B,D)

DAY 5: PRIEN / CHIEMSEE /
FREISING / MUNICH
Following breakfast we leave for Freising where Pope Benedict XVI
studied and became bishop of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising.
Visit the Cathedral St. Korbinian where he was ordained to the
priesthood, and the theological University of Freising where he was
a professor. Dinner and overnight in Munich. (B,D)
DAY 6: MUNICH
Today we depart for Munich, the
capital of Bavaria. Visit the Catholic University where Pope
Benedict XVI studied, the Church of Our Lady where he was
consecrated Bishop and nominated a Cardinal, St. Martin Church in
Munich-Moosach where he was a Priest, and the Church of HL. Blut in
Munich-Bogenhausen where he was Chaplain in the early 1950s. We will
also see some of Munich other interesting sites. Dinner and
overnight in Munich. (B,D)

DAY 7: MUNICH
Free day to explore Munich on your
own. Optional side trip will be made available to visit
Neuschwanstein Castle, King Ludwig’s fairly tale castle said to have
inspired Walt Disney. Dinner and overnight in Munich. (B,D)
DAY 8: MUNICH / U.S.A.
Depart to Munich Airport. Arrive
home the same day. (B)
