Pilgrimage to Rome   8 Day Itinerary

 

ITINERARY - 8 DAYS

 

Day 1 Mon: Depart USA

The group will depart on an overnight flight to Rome. Meals will be served.

 

Day 2 Tue: Rome

Upon arrival at the Rome Airport the group will be transferred by deluxe motor coach to the hotel. Enjoy a panoramic sightseeing tour of Rome from your motor coach, including important sights like the Piazza Venezia, Circus Maximus, Forum, Arch of Constantine and Colosseum.  Enjoy dinner at the hotel your first night in the “Eternal City.” Overnight in Rome. (D)

 

Day 3 Wed: Rome

The group will attend one of the trip highlights, an audience with Pope Benedict XVI (if available).  After the Audience enjoy a guided tour of St. Peter’s Basilica and the world famous Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel.  Also a visit to the Castel Sant’ Angelo. Dinner on your own and overnight in Rome. (B)

 

Day 4 Thu: Rome (Option: Monte Cassino)

Free day, Rome or OPTIONAL excursion to Monte Cassino.  Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B,D)

 

Day 5 Fri: Rome

In the morning celebrate Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica. Visit three of the four major Basilicas of Rome: St. Paul’s Outside the Walls, St. John Lateran and St. Mary Major. Dinner on your own. Overnight in Rome. (B)

Day 6 Sat: Rome (Option: Assisi)

Free Day, Rome or OPTIONAL excursion to Assisi - Depart early morning for the town of St. Francis, Assisi.  A tour will include visits to the Basilica of St. Francis (view the exquisite artwork of Giotto), Convent of St. Clare, and Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels with Portiuncula chapel. Afternoon free to explore Assisi. Dinner on your own and overnight in Rome. (B)

 

Day 7 Sun: Rome (Option: Florence)

Free day, Rome or OPTIONAL excursion to Florence - Depart Rome after breakfast for Florence, the city considered to be the cultural heart of Italy. We will visit some of its important sites including the Duomo; Baptistery designed by Giotto; and Santa Croce, the church where Dante, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci among others are buried. We will also see the famous statue of “David” as well.  Dinner on your own and overnight in Rome. (B)

 

Day 8 Mon: Rome / USA

After breakfast depart Rome Airport for U.S.A. (B
