The Holy Land & Rome   10 Day Itinerary

ITINERARY

DAY 1: USA

Depart U.S. from New York area airport an overnight flight.  Enjoy dinner served aboard overnight flight.

 

DAY 2: TEL AVIV

Arrive Ben Gurion Airport where group will be met by tour guide.  Transfer by deluxe motorcoach to hotel.  Dinner and overnight in Netanya. (D)

 

DAY 3: TEL AVIV / GALILEE

After breakfast depart Tel Aviv and enjoy scenic views along the coastal road to Caesarea to visit the ruins of ancient Roman Theatre. Continue to Haifa to visit Mt. Carmel. Mass will be celebrated in Stella Maris Church. Continue to Acco (Acre) to visit the Old City and crusader town. Arrival at your hotel in Galilee for dinner and overnight. (B,D)

 

DAY 4: GALILEE / JERUSALEM

Visit sites along the shores of the Sea of Galilee – Mt. of Beatitudes, Tabgha (site of the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes), Capernaum, Cana of Galilee, and Mt. Tabor (Mass at the Church of Transfiguration). Continue to and Jericho, the most ancient city in the world. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. (B,D)

 

DAY 5: JERUSALEM / BETHLEHEM

After enjoying breakfast at hotel depart for a full day tour of Jerusalem.  In the morning visit Mt. of Olives, Mt. Scopus, the Garden of Gethsemane and Basilica of Agony. Continue to Kidron Valley and Mt. Zion as well as  the Last Supper Room. Continue to Bethlehem to visit the Church of the Nativity with a Mass in the Grotto. The group will also observe Shepherd’s Field and visit Rachel’s Tomb. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. (B,D)

 

DAY 6: JERUSALEM

Visit the Old City of Jerusalem. Enter St. Stephen’s Gate and visit the Church of St. Ann (birthplace of Our Lady). Continue with a walking tour of the Via Dolorosa (carrying a large wooden replica of the cross if available) as well as visit to the Holy Sepulchre (Mass if available), the Christian and Armenian quarters, the Kardo, and The Wailing (Western) Wall. Continue to Yad Vashem Memorial Museum and Ein Karem, and the birthplace of St. John the Baptist. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. (B,D)

 

DAY 7: JERUSALEM / ROME

Depart Ben Gurion Airport for flight to Rome.  Upon arrival in the “Eternal City” the group will be met by their tour guide and escorted to the hotel.  Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B,D)

 

DAY 8: ROME

Sightseeing of Rome including the Catacombs, Capitoline Hill, the Forum, St. Peter in Chains, Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, Circus Maximus, Pantheon, Old Appian Way, Palazzo Venezia, St. Mary Major, St. John Lateran, and St. Paul Outside the Walls. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B,D)

 

DAY 9: ROME

Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica, visit the Vatican Museum, Library and Sistine Chapel. Afternoon free for independent activities. OPTIONAL visit to nearby Tivoli, including Villa D’Este and Villa Gregorian. Mass at one of the 600 churches of Rome. Attendance at the Holy Father’s Audience, when the Holy Father is in Italy. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B,D)

 

DAY 10: ROME / U.S.A.

After Mass, depart for flight to U.S., arriving the same day. (B)

 

Price includes the following: Round-trip airfare from a New York area airport, flight from Israel to Rome, airport-hotel transfers, hotel taxes, hotel tips (Rome only) full Israeli breakfast (in the Holy Land) or buffet breakfast (Rome) and dinner daily, accommodations in 3 and 4 star hotels with private bathrooms, sightseeing as indicated in itinerary, tour guide / escort, deluxe motorcoach transportation, and porterage.

Price is based on a minimum of 25 passengers.

Hotel Tips (in Israel) and tips to waiters (in Israel); and tips to all bus drivers, and tour escorts/guides are not included.

Depart New York JFK Airport * Price is per person, based on double occupancy.   There are a limited number of single rooms available. Add $140 departure tax, $330 fuel surcharge and $189 (January) and 239 (April) for optional travel insurance. Departure taxes and fuel surcharges are subject to change up until the time The Catholic Tour purchases the group tickets, typically 60-30 days prior to departure.
