August 8 to 22, 2011 |
ITINERARY
Day 1: Depart USA
Start your journey aboard
an overnight flight. Meals will be served onboard.
Day 2: Fatima
The group will arrive in
Lisbon where there will be a panoramic sightseeing tour of
Portugal’s capital city from the deluxe motorcoach, passing by the
main avenues, the Alfama district, and a visit to the Church of St.
Anthony. Upon arrival in Fatima visit some of the highlights
including the Capelinha (also known as the “Chapel of the
Apparitions”) as well as the Basilica. The Basilica contains the
tombs of two of the children of Fatima, Jacinta and Francisco. Enjoy
the remainder of the evening free of participate in the evening
Candlelight Procession. Dinner and overnight in Fatima. (D)
Day 3: Fatima
After breakfast join the
group for a tour of the Shrine of Fatima. Visit the original homes
of the children, the Fatima Church and cemetery. Later, make the Way
of the Cross. Built by Hungarian refugees of World War II, the
Stations provide a breathtaking view of the Portuguese countryside.
In the evening enjoy a video presentation by the Consolata Fathers
on the history of Fatima. Dinner and overnight in Fatima. (B,D)
Day 4: Fatima / Burgos
After breakfast at the
hotel depart for Burgos and the journey to Spain. Enjoy lunch on
your own en route. Upon arrival, enjoy an orientation tour of Burgos
where one of the highlights will be a visit to the Cathedral of
Burgos, one of the grandest and most breathtaking cathedrals in the
country. Dinner and overnight in Burgos. (B,D)
Day 5: Burgos / Lourdes
After breakfast the group
will depart Burgos and travel through very scenic areas of Spain
into France with an arrival to the Shrine of Lourdes in the
afternoon. An orientation walking tour of the shrine will be made
available. Also, the group may wish to take part in the evening
Candlelight Procession. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes. (B,D)
Day 6: Lourdes
Participate in a walking
tour of Lourdes after breakfast where the group will visit the
places associated with the life of St. Bernadette. The places
include the Boly Mill, where St. Bernadette was born; the “Cachot”,
formerly used as a jail where she lived at the time of the
Apparitions, the Chapel where St. Bernadette received her First Holy
Communion; and the Parish Church containing the Baptismal Font where
she was baptized. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes. (B,D)
Day 7: Lourdes /
Zaragoza
After breakfast, depart
in the morning across the Pyrenees Mountains for Zaragoza,
considered to be one of the world’s largest Marian Shrines. Referred
to as “Our Lady of the Pillar,” it is said to be a place that was
visited by the Blessed Mother before her Assumption. Balance of the
day at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Zaragoza. (B,D)

from Zaragoza after breakfast. Enjoy World Youth Day activities upon
arrival in Madrid.
