Zagreb to Venice
15 Day Itinerary |

Day 1 (Friday) Depart USA
Day 2 (Saturday) Arrive in Zagreb
We will meet you at
the airport and transfer you to your hotel. The balance of the day
is at leisure. (D)
Day 3 (Sunday) Zagreb
Morning sightseeing
tour will take you along the historic Upper Town, to see the St.
Mark’s Church, the St. Catherine’s Church, the Cathedral, the
Parliament and the Government Palace. Rest of the day at leisure to
explore
the
winding streets of the old town or to take an optional excursion
with dinner into the surrounding countryside. (B)
Day 4 (Monday) To Sarajevo
Continue our trip
towards Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where we
arrive around the dinnertime. (B,D)
Day 5 (Tuesday) To Dubrovnik
Sarajevo has been
influenced by a number of cultures and civilizations. On your city
tour visit the picturesque Turkish bazaar “Bas Carsija”, the Husref
Bay’s Mosque, Olympic Stadium and Sarajevo War Tunnel Museum.
Continue our trip through mountains and along the marvelous gorge of
the River Neretva to Mostar, where we will see the remains of the
Turkish quarter and the reconstruction efforts of the 16th
century single arch stone bridge. (B,D)
Day 6 (Wednesday) Dubrovnik
There is a walking
tour of "Old Dubrovnik" this morning; the Rector’s Palace, Bell
Tower clock, Orlando’s Column and the Sponza Palace. You will also
see the Dominican Monastery and Franciscan Monastery with its
Pharmacy, one of the oldest in the world. The rest of the day is at
leisure. (B)
Day 7 (Thursday) Excursion to Montenegro
Excursion to
Republic of Montenegro, driving towards the mouth of the beautiful
Bay of Kotor, the longest and deepest fjord in Southern Europe. See
Risan and Kotor towns. Proceed to Cetinje, the one time seat of
Montenegrin rulers, today a city- museum. After the sightseeing in
Cetinje we return to the coast for a short stop by Sveti Stefan and
Budva. Evening return to Dubrovnik. (B)
Day 8 (Friday) To Split
This morning we
depart Dubrovnik and travel north along the spectacular Adriatic
coast, past old fishing villages and new resorts, to Split. Enjoy a
city tour featuring the historic inner city, built around Roman
Emperor Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
See remnants of Split’s Roman heritage, its Renaissance and Gothic
structures, Jupiter’s Temple, the Peristyle and the Cathedral (B,D)
Day 9 (Saturday) To Trogir and Plitvice Lakes
After breakfast, we
head north along the coast to Trogir, the center of artistic
activities, where scholars from around the world gather to study and
paint. Our journey continues as we turn inland towards the beautiful
Plitvice Lakes National Park. (B,D)
Day 10 (Sunday) Plitvice Lakes
A full day to enjoy
Plitvice National Park listed in UNESCO’s World Heritage
list, the breathtaking scenery of this natural wonder of 16
terraced lakes surrounded by thickly wooded mountains and lush
vegetation. In the morning, there’s a walking tour around several of
the lower lakes. The rest of the day is at leisure. (B,D)
Day 11 (Monday) To
Opatija and Bled
We return to the
coast to the beautiful bay of Kvarner and its popular resort,
Opatija. Orientation tour of Opatija will present the highlights of
this former Imperial resort city. Drive to Ljubljana. (B,D)
Day 12 (Tuesday) Bled
Our sightseeing tour
of Bled features the town of Bled with the lakeshore, and includes a
visit to the Bled Castle, perched on a cliff high above the lake.
Afterwards, proceed towards Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.
During our walking sightseeing tour we will visit the all the most
significant sights of the old city centre: the open-air Central
Market and the Three Bridges, both works of Joze Plecnik, a famous
20th-century architect, Baroque Town Hall and Robba's Fountain.
Return to Bled in the evening. (B)
Day 13 (Wednesday) To Venice
Drive to Venice
visiting Postojna Cave en-route. (B,D)
Day 14 (Thursday) Venice
After breakfast
proceed for a walking tour featuring major highlights; The Golden
Basilica of San Marco, The Bridge of Sights, St. Mark’s Square,
Piombi Prison. Free time in the afternoon. (B)
Day 15 (Friday) Depart Venice
After breakfast we
drive to Venice airport for your flight home. (B)
